Marilyn Best is a licensed social worker committed to empowering the elderly. Since 1996, she has worked at Isabella Geriatric Center, a state-of-the-art elder care provider in New York City.
Marilyn is responsible for providing care for 80 residents, all of whom have Alzheimer’s or Dementia.
Marilyn is a founding member of Isabella’s Culture Change committee. The committee began in 1999 as part of the nation-wide Pioneer Movement that seeks to move nursing homes away from a medical model of care to focus more on resident-centered care.
Empowering residents to make choices about their activities of daily living and finding ways to make the nursing home environment more home-like are two of Marilyn’s passions.
Marilyn earned a Masters of Social Work degree with honors from Fordham University in 1996 and is a member of the National Association of Social Workers.
